The 19 salmon releases now scheduled for late April through May will bring at least 700 students to Fauntleroy Park to put an estimated 2,000 coho fry in the creek. In addition to the 15 that participate in the Salmon in the Schools program, four are area preschools that release fry reared by volunteer Jack Lawless.
White Center Heights Elementary will release the first fry of the season in late March as that program’s coordinator gets eggs a month earlier than the rest.
