MANY ENJOY OPEN CREEK

The Fauntleroy Watershed Council’s Nov. 12 open creek drew 136 visitors of all ages.  Though spawners declined to attend, visitors were happy to check out the spawning reach and talk salmon and habitat with the several volunteers on duty.

As of that date, the count stood at 34 coho spawners, plus one cutthroat trout in to try to snag loose salmon eggs.  This number would no doubt be higher if harbor seals and a sea lion were not active in the cove.  The watch will continue until a week with no sightings.
