Helping steward the environment can be a very rewarding and enjoyable way to give back to your community. We welcome fresh energy and ideas, whether you can lend a hand just once or for awhile. Here are current opportunities:
- Organize regular (2/year? 4/year?) guided nature walks in Fauntleroy Park for the general public on habitat topics and enlist topic specialists as needed.
- Maintain the small native garden on the southeast corner of the Fauntleroy Schoolhouse.
- Assist students carry out research having to do with the creek or park.
- Help monitor smolt traps (March-May), assist with a school salmon release (May), or count spawners (Oct.-Nov.).
- Assist with activities organized by forest stewards to enhance beneficial habitat and attract responsible enjoyment of the park.
- Work with area preschool programs to develop age-appropriate exploration of the park.
- Develop and implement a strategy to improve scoop compliance in the park.
