In early August, representatives from State Fish and Wildlife, Seattle Public Utilities, and the Green Seattle Partnership began advising creekside property owners on what to do about invasive plant species clogging the channel. For several years, vegetation near the mouth has made entry by coho spawners difficult and sometimes impossible, and English ivy has recently began impeding fish passage in the spawning reach. We anticipate that a combination of expert advice, owner initiative, neighbor cooperation, and watershed-council resources will result in practical actions at both locations.
