Salmon watchers spotted the first coho spawner of the season come in to the creek from Fauntleroy Cove late Wednesday, Oct. 30. The watch is now in high gear and will continue as long as more fish seem likely.
‘Open Creek’ will be this Sunday, November 3, 1:00-3:00pm. Make your way to the fish ladder viewpoint at SW Director and upper Fauntleroy Way SW (the bluff across from the ferry terminal). A volunteer will invite you down to the creek level to check out the habitat, ask questions, and maybe see spawners. Children must be with a parent and dogs must be on leash.
On other days: If a watcher is on duty below, visitors to the fish-ladder viewpoint can give a shout to ask to come down for a closer look. Children must be with a parent and dogs must be on leash.
